Monte Rosa Ski
Monterosa Ski is among the largest and most fascinating skiing districts, not only in the Valle d'Aosta, but in the entire Alps. From the massif of Monte Rosa it embraces the valleys of Ayas, Gressoney, Alagna and Valsesia. National instructors of the Scuole Sci Gressoney Monterosa are at your disposition to refine your skiing techniques and to teach new disciplines such as snowboarding, telemark skiing and carving, as well as the traditional mountain skiing, on the slopes or cross-country.
6 Alpine villages in Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont (Champoluc, Antagnod, Brusson,
Gressoney-La-Trinité, Gressoney-Saint-Jean and Alagna), 3 valleys linked by ski
tracks (Valle d'Ayas, Valle di Gressoney and Valsesia), 33 ski lift stations,
64 tracks with a total of 180 km completely practicable wearing skis and 173 km
covered by programmed artificial snow.
From the Indren glacier there are several off-track possibilities on the Gressoney
slope.
Heliskis may be booked.
Excursions of every kind can be made from Gressoney Saint Jean, from walks to high altitude excursions, climbing and mountaineering, including vie ferrate (routes with fixed cables). The highest refuge in Europe, the Capanna Regina Margherita, is at an altitude of 4,559 m. Andrea Ghiardi, the Alpine guide, has his base at the Residenza.
