Excursions of every kind can be made from Gressoney Saint Jean, from walks to high altitude excursions, climbing and mountaineering, including vie ferrate (routes with fixed cables). The highest refuge in Europe, Capanna Regina Margherita, is at an altitude of 4,559 m.
